Merge energy zones

Merging energy zones is the process whereby zones that are identified as being separate in the model can be merged together with other zones in order to create complex spaces or simplify models and speed subsequent calculations.

To achieve this feature ECO-engine separates the zones in two categories. The main zone category and the child zone category. Main zones are the zones which have not set to be merged with another zone. The child zones are the zones which the user has selected them to be merged with another zone (a main zone).

During the energy calculations all the constructions of child zones are considered to be constructions of the main zones without considering any other properties of the zones like the ventilation, lighting etc. (i.e only the properties of the main zones take part to the calculations).

To merge a zone to another one the user must select the space from the navigation tree and then click the merge with zone property button from the space properties.
